Over the weekend, the Children’s Team headed to Valencia, Spain for the 74th edition of FIMI. With 298 brands present, FIMI showcased a mix of established, traditional Spanish brands and newer niche collections in the “See Me” section of the show. This year, designers Agatha Ruiz de la Prada and Elisa Palomino held master classes at the show and spoke of their experience in the fashion industry and personal visions. A new project Nuditos features children’s apparel created by design students in an effort to build relationships between up-and-coming designers with industry veterans. For the F/W 12 edition, the FIMI runway shows included 14 brands which include Elisa Menuts, Larrana, Paglie and Tumble N Dry.
Show highlights included the new children’s collection by Zadig & Voltaire, chock full of edgy prints, cool layers and interesting silhouettes; the handmade baby collection Alma Llenas from Barcelona; and Sarabanda with its “animal as people graphics” and tops with attached arm warmers.
