From São Paulo Fashion Week to Mode City in Paris, this summer has been jam-packed with beachwear events, and Stylesight has been on hand to cover it all and provide in-depth trend analysis. Reports covering two of the most essential market occurrences of the season – designer Resort 2012 collections and Miami Swim Week – just went live in the past week. Here are a few tidbits from the reports.
Resort/Cruise has developed into a major season for designers, especially from a lifestyle point of view, offering up everything from weekend bags to bathing suits. This season, luxury labels like Nina Ricci and Bottega Veneta were feeling the same wave of lingerie influences that swept over Brazil and Miami, infusing waterside wares with feminine structure, delicate lace and retro elegance.
Neon and fluorescent hues have also been a major development for swimwear this season, showing up in statement solids and in combination on suits and cover ups. Highlighter yellow, hot pink, traffic cone orange and sparkling turquoise are enlivening last season’s pervading minimalist sensibility, as well as moving Mod influences in a fun, futuristic direction.
Fall is approaching, but the swim season isn’t over yet! Watch the Intimates & Swimwear section for even more coverage, among them designer interviews from Miami and a wrap-up on Curve New York and Las Vegas.
