Erin Fetherston Pre-Fall 2013

LATE SUMMER ESCAPE
New York: Erin Fetherston told interviewers she was hoping to capture the magic of the last days of summer for her Pre-Fall collection. The designer had just taken a trip to the Venezuelan archipelago of Los Roques, whose vibrant buildings and lush flora provided inspiration for the looks. An explosion of colorful flowers, which likely represented what Fetherston saw on her tropical vacation, provided the backdrop for the press images, and a pair of ethnic prints was a reference to designs observed in the region. Fetherston is known for her girly frocks, and there was no shortage of them this season. A white Swiss dot number was sweet and flattering, and full-skirted cocktail frocks were flirty and feminine. The designer also included slimmer silhouettes this time around, adding a bit of sex appeal. Illusion necklines and cutouts provided additional seductive elements.–Joanna Manganaro
