Milan: Massimo Giorgetti made his debut as the creative director of Emilio Pucci for Pre-Summer describing the collection as a “pilot episode.” “It’s like the pilot of Game of Thrones, the episode where you see this world, these characters, for the first time.” It was a dramatic shift from the sexy bravado of Peter Dundas, here, Giorgetti reworked a range of prints adding a modern interpretation into silhouettes of oversized proportions. There were variations on the shirt – a key piece in the collection – either with elongated sleeves, side buttoned, or one shoulder. An unexpected clash of print ideas came in the form of “Tourists in Florence” interpreted from images on a postcard of Capri as well as an archive print of brushstrokes that extended into 3-D embellishments. The bright colours too were incongruously reworked and printed onto silk pants and shirtdresses. Giorgetti revamped the Pucci logo, incorporating the Florentine lily, which appeared embroidered on skirts and applied on bags and shoes. The lineup provided a fresh and modern take, setting the house of Pucci on the right course for the future. – Lizzy Bowring
