School for Creative Startups is a new business initiative for young creatives by investor Doug Richard; a one year program and helping hand for graduates with unique ideas wishing to pursue their creative endeavors as a career.
Previous Dragon from the British Dragon’s Den television series, Richard has an impressive business CV and unparalleled expertise in entrepreneurial ventures; in 2006 Doug was an Honorary Recipient of The Queen’s Award for Enterprise Promotion.
Following a period of mentoring in 2008, Richard saw an opportunity to help young people in the creative industries start better, and more profitable business models, and thus the school was created.
The program comprises a 3 1/2 day bootcamp in London, followed by mentoring calls, workshops, online lessons, and on-going monthly grow sessions where ‘students’ will learn how to produce and market products appropriately, enabling profit against competition within the industry.
“The art of starting a business can be taught and our goal at School for Creative Startups is to show you the best practice and then guide you along the way and to hold your hand through the fragile early stages.”
The application process has already begun and spaces are limited. Doug, alongside his trusty business team, will be picking only 100 applicants for this year’s course with success measured on a strict criteria.
