Students from the prestigious Royal College of Art – those working across the disciplines of art and design – will this year exhibit projects as part of the Paradise exhibition at Salone Internazionale del Mobile in April to celebrate the college’s 175th anniversary.
Organized by the Design Products programme, who have already exhibited at Salone for many years now, this will be the first collaboration and showcase with other art and design disciplines in Milan, and will enable the college to present a much wider spectrum of creative talent to an international audience.
Products and furniture, alongside more conceptual projects, have been selected by Head of Design Products, Tord Boontje and will address three key topics, the exploration of personal dreams and desires; questioning the fabric of the everyday; and speculation on the direction of our future, while the show itself will be housed in a former school in the Ventura Lambrate district and curated by RCA tutor Onkar Kular.
‘Paradise contemplates the discovery of something or somewhere wondrous. Rallied by the desire for change and compelled by dissatisfaction with the present, RCA students will author their own atlases of paradise, landscaped by different paths in the quest for a better future,’ reads the show’s press release.
Entry to the exhibition is free and will run from April 17 – 22, for more information click here. – Samantha Fox
