We’ve been obsessing about Kiwi songstress Lorde, AKA Ella Yelich-O`Connor since we first heard “Royals” in June and are excited about today’s release of her much anticipated first full length album, Pure Heroine.

Her delicate, down-tempo sound has struck a chord with industry insiders and critics, who are deeming her a rising star. This is no surprise, as she was the first woman in 17 years to top the billboard’s alternative songs chart, which is pretty impressive considering she is only 16-years-old.

She’s kindly outlined what we can expect from her album when talking to MTV back in August:

“The way I see it, pop music doesn’t have to be stupid, and alternative music doesn’t have to be boring; you can mesh the two together and make something cool.”

Her effortless new video for single Tennis Court is a one-shot piece, showing off her skills as a fearless artist. What’s particularly striking is her raw performance which is minimal yet impactful, drawing the listeners attention to the lyrics.
