Emerging Talent: Art Rotterdam

Michael Johansson

Always on the lookout for fresh, emerging artists and designers, Stylesight attended the exciting 15th edition of the international Art Rotterdam fair in The Netherlands.

This year, Art Rotterdam was held at a new location – the renowned Van Nelle Factory. This former coffee and tobacco factory, built in 1928, is regarded as one of the most important industrial heritage buildings in The Netherlands.

Featuring over 114 international exhibitors with pioneering work from the latest talents and creative industries, Art Rotterdam provided a buzzing platform to discover and experience new developments and emerging talent in the contemporary visual art industry. The different sections on offer: Main, New Art and Projections provided a new energy and exciting cultural vibe.

Noticeable were the variety of international galleries and the new video section, called Projections. This provided the galleries the opportunity to show young talent like Folkert de Jong, Nadav Kander and Erik-Jan van der Schuur to a new international public of collectors, curators and art lovers.

Overall this fair was a fascinating place to experience young, upcoming and talented new artists from a variety of disciplines: painting, installations, sculptures, photography and art performances. See examples of our favorite work from the show below.
