Electric retro future at Carven

Paris: After the announcement of the appointment of Alexis Martial and Adrien Caillaudaud as the new artistic directors, the design duo presented the new Carven girl at Paris fashion week. ‘A contemporary, self confident London girl living in Paris, swaying between an electric revival of the late 60’s and the timeless elegance of active Parisian women,’ inspired Caillaudaud and Martial for their debut collection for A/W 15. High-waist cropped trousers and A-line mini-skirts cut in bonded fabric were omnipresent throughout the collection, reminiscent of Alexis prior work at Iceberg. As the overarching theme of the season, the duo worked a retro future sports aesthetic fused with florals as the dominating print, found on quilted jacquard bomber, skirts and on chunky mules. Jasper azurite mineral stones added textural surface interest to tops, while fluffy orange chenille knits worn with a technical tweed suit evoked an undeniable 60’s après-ski feeling. – Christa Kaufmann
