Easy elegance at Marni

Florence: Marni was the guest designer at Pitti Uomo this season. The presentation took place at the Museo Marino Marini in Florence, where abstract equestrian sculptures set the mood for a gorgeous array of neat shapes, tactile materials and a bold play of colours and textures. Consuelo Castiglioni’s new offering brought a seventies-inspired easy elegance – zip-up tunics were layered on wallpaper print shirts and ski-inspired trousers had a flared silhouette, bringing movement and ease to the collection. Knitwear was roomy and tactile, while sturdy tailoring featured quirky details like broken lines and single vents. Collarless coats looked like relaxed cardigans and robes, while double-breasted blazers had a welcoming roominess, giving a nonchalant yet sophisticated flair to the collection. – Diego Sanchez
