Paris: Was this a swan song from Giambattista Valli for Spring/Summer 2015 or a beautiful Eastern bird singing a sweet tune? Valli is the master of finite detailing and this collection was the epitome of such craftsmanship – from simple sheath minidresses that were seemingly handcrafted with mother of pearl to emulate the branches and flowers of cherry blossoms, to the hand-cut plumage that adorned skirts and long, superbly cut racer back gowns. The choice of delicately printed jacquards, amplified the ’70s fit and flare of the knife cut pant suits. As always, this lineup was elegant, romantic and demurely sexy. There was a gentle but precise sophistication from the presentation of the silhouettes down to the choice of the exquisite chokers and artfully crafted shoes. A collection that stroked the senses. – Lizzy Bowring
