Milan: Dean and Dan Caten love a summer adventure. Attendees got a hint of what to expect when they received an invitation for the S/S 12 show that was a cotton bandana printed with a tattoo graphic of a soaring eagle and the accompanying text: “DSquared2 goes to Europe”. The large-scale production was a picture-postcard whirlwind trip, taking in such far-flung locales of Mykonos, Finland, Rome and backstage at a London punk club. A giant revolving set switched scenes and models, from knit-wrapped fishing port and sun-drenched Iberian beach to romantic Rome rooftop and finally, scuzzy back-alley, all with costume changes to match each new vignette. The clothes covered the DSquared2 basics in a satisfying way, including distressed denim, logo tees, color-blocked tailoring and plenty of leather. It was all about fun, retail-friendly separates entertainingly dressed up with high-camp theatrics. — Michael Fisher
