COAL MINER’S DAUGHTER
Milan: Though designers Dan and Dean Caten are Canadians based in Milan, their inspiration tends to come from Americana, and this season’s countrified mix was no exception. Denim was a major story, with jackets and jeans in both skinny and slouchy fits in heavy rotation; plaid flannels were tied at the waist or draped around the shoulders. Slick black leathers toughened up the rustic looks, and fur added glamour. In the show notes, the brothers said of this season’s woman, “She’s a stone cold miner’s daughter: she wears the pants!”, and the strong, confident looks supported that statement.
