AMERICAN GIGOLO

Milan: Dean and Dan Caten’s show is always one of the most fun of the week, usually pulling inspiration from some past pop culture moment. For S/S 11, their muse was Richard Gere and his character in American Gigolo. With a backdrop that conjured up the ultimate bachelor pad, models each perfectly embodied the swagger of the 70s with high-waisted jeans, suits that resembled Georgio Armani’s in the original film, and an unbuttoned sexiness achieved with lustrous silk shirts. Looking past the slightly passé theme, there were the wearable must-haves of the season — including the khaki suit, double-breasted jackets, contrast collar shirts, cuffed shorts, and knit ties.
