New York: After last season’s dreamy Grace Kelly-inspired collection, Donna traveled to post-earthquake Haiti. The work of Haitian artist Philippe Dodar inspired broad brushstroke prints on body-hugging shift dresses and full skirts. But, Donna has been in the business too long to let a theme override her aesthetic; a sense of restraint prevailed. For every tribal print, there was a body-contouring jacket, a monochrome ruched dress, or an athletic zip-up top. The color palette was classic Donna: earthy with shots of muted neons. Best in show was a slinky copper-colored gown beaded with a graphic, large-scale tribal motif. – Shine Anthony-Dharan
