New York: Abandoning the powdery pales and delicate materials of her last few collections, Donna Karan blended her characteristically feminine aesthetic with active-inspired elements and a graphic color palette for C/R 12. Though silhouettes were ladylike, the individual items looked like they were made to be moved in; body-con spandex items, sturdy full skirts and water-resistant coat-dresses dominated the assortment. Pieced constructions and piping looked ultra-sporty and spoke to the scuba-inspired trend that has taken over the C/R runways, while princess seams accentuated hourglass curves. Karan narrated the show, and assured those in attendance that the collection’s body-con items were just as figure-flattering as her signature draped styles; many of these snug silhouettes included “hidden support systems.” —Whitney Kessler
