Leave it to the Italians, to dress even the bloodiest of sports in style. As Milano Thunder gears up for the World Series of Boxing Championship, Dolce & Gabbana has been tapped to design uniforms for the team. The designers share a passion for sports and over the years have dressed (off the field) AC Milan, Chelsea Football Club, as well as the Italian soccer team for the World Cup. They also re-designed the coveted, Maglia Rosa Jersey, for the 100th anniversary of the Giro d’Italia. But, this is the first time Dolce & Gabbana have aligned their brand with an actual team, in the form of uniforms. This is totally in-line with the boxing trend we have been tracking over the last few seasons…
The collection includes boxing trunks, gloves, robes, warm-up sweats, as well as casual wear items such as jeans and down jackets. They even managed to clean the team up nicely with black two-button tailored suits, which the team wore when it attended the Dolce & Gabbana men’s fall show in January.
For casual looks, the Dolce & Gabbana GYM collection—dedicated to the beauty of the male form—has been influenced by the sport since its launch in 2008. The Italian flag is a recurring theme in D&G’s GYM collection, which is inspired by both soccer and boxing. Tighten up your “Gym-Tan-Laundry” look by wearing D&G’s GYM collection, featuring fashion forward luxury sportswear items from tracksuits and short jackets, to polos, vests, shorts, sweats, T-shirts, and trousers.
