New York: Donna Karan has always embraced the heart and soul of New York for her DKNY collection, and for S/S 12, she placed her clean-cut models at the NASDAQ MarketSite in the heart of Times Square — possibly the epitome of NYC energy. With 45 looks spread across the second-floor of the exchange, the city became the ultimate backdrop for slim sharkskin suits, techno zip-front cardigans and rugged, trans-seasonal outerwear. The three-button jacket, in a higher button stance than usual, looked fresh, while DKNY’s version of the double-breasted suit was young and contemporary. An updated replica of the Steve McQueen MA-1 bomber was paired with a weathered Henley and cotton shorts for a new take on a masculine summer uniform. —Michael Fisher
