DKNY sporting their 90’s roots

New York: DKNY’s latest Pre-Summer collection was energised with a minimal 90s aesthetic, drawing inspiration from Peter Lindbergh’s iconic black and white photography – the lineup was rendered in black and white looks with a hint of midnight blue and oxblood. While the juxtaposition of glossy and matte, soft and tense materials added a sophisticated surface interest to essential pieces. Relaxed tailoring paired with men’s trousers and sheer tulle along with a simple slip dress underlined the era of the supermodels and Lindbergh’s raw photography. Faux ostrich feathers, a silver coated slouchy knit sweater with a matching leather skirt mixed up the minimal line up, while keeping the silhouette loose and minimal. Slouchy soft knitwear pieces, wide leg trousers and white lace up shoes played into the streety normcore trend and supported this contemporary yet very commercial collection. – Christa Kaufmann
