Donna Karan chose one of New York’s current hot spots, the fashionably gritty Ace Hotel, as the setting for her F/W 10 DKNY presentation. The refined collection combined active elements with urban sophistication, mixing tailored clothing with high-tech, glossy surfaces and styling all with the hiking boot, which was one of the hottest shoe trends at the recent shows in Milan and Paris. The mostly concrete grey color palette was lifted with occasional pops of lustrous cobalt blue in the form of layered knits and slim-fitting ski jackets. A color-blocked cardigan worn with slim flannel pants that were tucked into boots really hit the nail on the head when it comes to how young men want to dress, which is masculine and chic while maintaining a subtle, downtown-ish edge.
