New York and Tokyo-based creative tech lab Party New York has successfully funded its project Disco Dog, a smartphone-controlled light-up dog vest that both adds some disco dazzle to walks, and provides a useful tool for lost dogs.
Patterns and scrolling text can be customised in thousands of colours on the vest, which keeps dogs safe in low light by making them clearly visible to passersby. The vest also shows an automatic help message when the dog strays too far from its owner, using their phone’s Bluetooth connection, so that lost pets can be identified by their outfit.
The product is now undergoing further development, and is due to start shipping to customers in November 2015.
