NEW YORK…Diesel’s Black Gold is a higher end, runway worthy edition of their signature fashion forward line, taking a few more risks and pushing denim design a bit further. S/S 09 continued the new appetite for lighter colored, distressed denim begun by designers like Martin Margiela and Christoper Kane, furthering the idea with bleached overalls, tiny shorts and jodhpurs. Extras like pale, blousey leather motorcycle jackets and cummerbunds added a tough yet refined element, while some items like ripped jeans with knee pads looked awkward. Overall a fresh take on accessible denim with an interesting play between light feminine washes and aggressive detailing.
