MILD MILD WEST
Iconic Americana is a perennial source of inspiration for designers around the world. This season power duo Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana turned their gaze to 60s spaghetti westerns and the days of covered wagons as points of reference for Spring. Artfully voluminous skirts gave their bucolic cowgirl a touch of sophistication, while lightweight denim shirts and relaxed jeans echoed classic western wear. Brown leather, ranging from camel to deep chocolate, was also a key material, used for everything from tight tube dresses to borrowed-from-the-boys button-ups. Never ones to let the concept overshadow the details, Dolce and Gabbana made sure to pepper each piece with an extra little twist, like tightly layered ruffles, suede fringe trim and ombré effects that perfectly polished off the rugged home-on-the-range of looks.
