New York magazine has once again reached out to designers for some pre-Fashion Week hints regarding what inspired their collections this season. This time, ninety-nine participants each generously provided one illustrative image and accompanying word that sum up his/her collection’s backstory.
Some responses reveal more than others. Chris Benz’s word “cheers,” which comes with a shot of a mood board decorated by sequined fabric and a party snap, suggests a celebratory theme. Meanwhile, it’s probably safe to say that there will be Asian influences at A. Detacher, who responded with the word “Japan,” and a pagoda picture supplement. Bill Blass hinted at color with “chromatic,” while J.Crew suggested an emphasis on silhouette with the word “shape” and a picture of a flower bud.
