DESTINATION SUMMER USA

Inspired by Asbury Park, Rehoboth Beach and other East Coast summer destinations, Derek Lam used all-American 40s nostalgia for his S/S 10 collection. Stars-and-stripes prints on easy matte jersey dresses and knit blazers remained traditional in navy and white; pops of turquoise updated the palette. Cutaway slits and shirttail hemlines created petal-shaped slits for mini-length dresses and skirts. Neckerchiefs and wrapped suede belts with star-shaped studs added a feminine cowgirl twist.
