Just as New York fashion week begins and all eyes are on the latest F/W 13 shows, we’re suddenly drawn to this great piece on Vogue.com, published to coincide with their latest Denim Issue in stores right now. In in, Kelly Connor puts together a perfect edit of the S/S 13 runways and pulls out essential denim items and trends.
The indigo color-blocked trend just keeps on running, as these beautifully shot images above show. The trend was spotted on S/S 13 runways such as 3.1 Philip Lim (above), as well as Tommy Hilfiger, Ashish, and Trussardi. Vogue then picked some alternatives to inspire their readers, including Proenza Schouler, ASOS, and 3×1. Clean and graphic piecing, indigo-on-indigo shades and clean, solid color create a modernist approach to dressing.
We love this polished denim story! Nobody could miss the fantastic Miu Miu collection that got everyone talking at last season’s Paris fashion week. Glossy, prim and rigid denim sat at the heart of the collection and transformed the traditional casualwear attitude associated with denim. Glossy raw surfaces and coatings, cleaned-up styling, and a truly sophisticated attitude inspired this, as well as other pieces from G-Star, Richard Chai Love, APC and Pas De Deux.
We recently ran a Men’s Trend Alert on prison stripes and we’ve been reporting on these wide-set bold stripes as they’ve been appearing all over festival streets and retail. Vogue picked this gorgeous Street Peeper shot and these similar items from Juicy Couture and Hudson. Check out the full story on Vogue.com, where they’ve explored other trends such as Well Worn, The Dress, Engineered Stripes, Boyfriend Shorts, Patchwork, and Fade to Black.
