When we think 80s fashion, we think Madonna. We know the Material Girl is still going strong today, but her penchant for punky denim on denim, scrunchies and crucifix necklaces made her a fashion icon for the decade.
In the latest issue of Out Magazine we get an exclusive look at a then unknown Madonna from 1982, a year before she released her first record. The vintage photography, captured by Richard Corman, features Madonna rocking a heavy dose of double denim; oversized denim jackets and distressed, high-waisted, cuffed jeans to name a few. The pictures he took that day capture the energy and vitality of a woman destined to become a legend.
These intimate pictures of the material girl on the streets of New York are a must-see, and we’re soaking up the nostalgia in all its acid wash glory.
