This week at Rin Tinaka Inspiration, WGSN’s very own Head of Youth and Denim will present the launch of her debut book, Denim Dudes.
As a member of the WGSN denim team (and Amy’s assistant of four years), I’m very proud to introduce our readers to the upcoming release of Amy Leverton’s Denim Dudes book. For those who don’t know, Amy is the Head of Youth and Denim here at WGSN. A true indigo expert and fanatic, Amy has built a career around her love for denim working in both design and trend analysis over the past decade. Her years travelling the globe, connecting with brands and attending industry shows has provided her vast industry connections, and of course introduced her to plenty of denim heads.
Just over two years ago, Amy set about documenting all these denim obsessives through a book that would combine her love of street style, denim details and jean stories. It’s been an impressive journey to watch along the way, seeing the whole process from helping to edit her initial list of targets (watch out for Denim Dudes 2), to assisting on shoots on our lunch breaks and seeing the preliminary photos pouring in from across the globe. And of course flicking through the pages of the first draft back in December was a real treat! The response since it was announced last month has been incredible, appearing across countless blogs, printed publications (special shout for Sunday Times) and even a radio appearance, and truly shows just how great this release is. It’s a must-have for any denim fanatics and has firmly stamped Amy’s place in denim industry! Amy, being as modest as she is, didn’t want to run a piece on the DDD herself, but I wanted to share my commendation with the readers.
For anyone who hasn’t yet read about it yet, the book has just launched this month through Laurence King and will be launched at Rin Tinaka Inspiration in L.A. this Friday, 6th February, where she will be doing signings and special editions with Denim Dudes bandanas. The 300 page book is packed with beautiful color photographs of various designers, denim celebs and die-hard obsessives from across the world, with each subject sharing their unique story about their outfits. Familiar faces featured are Jason Denham of Denham the Jeanmaker, Miles Johnson formerly LVC, Mohsin of Endrime and our other friends at Tenue de Nimes, Levi’s and Kapital.
