Paris: For Autumn/Winter, Clare Waight Keller presented an exquisitely rounded and feminine interpretation of the Seventies. The first look – a floor sweeping greatcoat with wide lapels in melton wool created an instant dramatic effect – coordinated with tailored trousers and the prettiest blouse, complete with skinny neckties – it was a clever balance against the delicate lace and light silk georgette slips. Keller said – “I really wanted to capture something confident, but still with a carefree spirit.” – she did! The mood was romantic and nostalgic and reminiscent of Stevie Nicks and the front cover of Rumours by Fleetwood Mac. Continuing in this vein, there were slim V-neck maxi dresses, wide-lapel peacoats, scooped neck waistcoats, little dresses edged in sheer frills and those investment pieces – long, langorous and fluid maxis that were covered in delicate florals while the patchwork cape and reversible shearlings will be keepsakes for the future. Keller’s collection ticked all the right boxes from the era and will certainly appeal to the ‘free-spirited’ Chloe woman. – Lizzy Bowring
