Fornasetti Profumi has released new designs in their home fragrance lines as well as updated motifs for existing classics.
The Fior di Bacio Candle is part of Fornasetti’s fourth olfactory family, Flora di Fornasetti, created by perfumer Emmanuel Philip. It is a white floral that contains top notes of ivy, lily of the valley and white rose, complemented by middle notes of iris, orange blossom and jasmine, and grounded by a musky base including tuberose and sandalwood. True to Fornasetti’s fondness for double entendres, the name literally translates to ‘flowers in the mouth’ and figuratively as ‘the best of kisses’. The design is a reworking of Piero Fornasetti’s original illustrations of opera singer Lina Cavalieri’s lips from a black and white portrait and is now available in the 1.9kg/67oz size. The candle burns for 240 hours and retails for £380/$495.
Additionally, new designs have been developed for the scented candles and scent spheres in the signature Otto fragrance. The quirky motifs with a clever background story or fun little twists include a 1.9kg/67oz candle (£380/$495) in the Bacio design which features Lina Cavalieri’s lips covered in red, designed by Barnaba Fornasetti.
Packed sardines against a red background adorn the small 300g candle (£99/$165) and large 1.9kg/67oz candle (£380/$495) and can also be seen ‘swimming’ leisurely across the scent spheres for a fishbowl effect. The Sardine design, originally used on a tray and side table, is intended as a visual pun expressing classic Fornasetti whimsy where the expectation of a fishy scent is met instead with the lavender, orris, cedarwood and labdanum notes of the Otto scent.
Scimmie is a reworked motif of the ‘drunken monkeys’ illustrations compiled of seven individual designs telling a new story where the monkeys have broken into the library’s liquor cabinet and are celebrating with a decadent party. The design is available in the 300g/10.5oz scented candle and retails for £99/$165.
The Cammei Bianco design features various monochrome cameos in neoclassical style and is available in the 300g/10.5oz scented candle for £99/$165 as well as the scent sphere for £195/$320. A set of 80 incense sticks is also now available in Otto for use with the scent spheres retailing for £45/$75.
The Soli e Lune, or Sun and Moon, collection features repeating motifs of golden suns and moons with different style faces and rays on ivory, black and oxblood ceramic backgrounds in the 300g/10.5oz candles. The candles also retail for £110/$180.
The new collections are available now online at www.fornasetti.com.
