Cynthia Steffe

New York: The Cynthia Steffe show seemed to effortlessly hit all of the right marks, incorporating many big trends of the moment. A theme of retro jet set glamour recalled fashions of the late 60s and early 70s. Mod color blocking complemented boxy active-inspired designs, and menswear looks conjured the androgynous style of Lauren Hutton in her heyday. Though silhouettes were generally breezy, natural waists were defined. Leather cummerbunds wrapped around printed silk maxi gowns, while drawstrings cinched the middles of sporty shirtdresses. There were summer tuxedos made from leather and silk denim, and athletic separates cut from crepe de chine and tech sateen. A vibrant but clean color palette of “fuchsia, jade, pool, aqua, and grape” popped against crisp black, white, and khaki. A glam take on summer leisurewear, the looks presented were uninhibited yet wearable and realistic.
