Earlier this month, WGSN’s Sarah Owen was invited to have a sneak peek of the new Yves Saint Laurent Museum in Marrakech, which is now open to the public. This must-see visit, offered a chance to see how the landscape and culture of Morocco inspired one of the most prolific fashion designers of our time. The museum was the vision of Yves’ business partner Pierre Bergé, although sadly he recently passed away and so was unable to his dream museum become a reality.
The space however, is delightful and an ode to Berge’s dedication to celebrate Yves. From the Instagram-worthy exterior to the bookshop, which is packed with books revealing details about Yves’ design process, his Morocco home (a place where according to reports he felt way more at home than in Paris) and his creative vision; the museum’s design is a delight.
