We’ve been scouring the Cruise/Resort 2012 collections over the last week for the hottest denim looks and have put together a collection of the best shows:
More clean denim looks take hold for Cruise 2012, after Prada and Stella McCartney‘s inspiring collections for S/S 11 rocked the fashion world. The focus for Burberry Prorsum this season is tailored and refined wardrobe items executed in clean and glossy denim. Sharp leisure shorts and smart, short-sleeved shirts in rich, saturated indigo sit with contrasting sulphur-blue utility jackets and tailored pants. We also love the offbeat military green and rich dijon colored denims.
Inspired by Morocco’s Majorelle Gardens, Elie Tahari’s Cruise 2012 line embraces easy-to-wear, color-rich, vacation-friendly pieces. The collection included clean, straight-cut silhouettes in lightweight chambray constructions with a visible crosshatch character. Easy, parallel leg pants were matched with ergonomically pieced denim jackets, while clean, boxy skirts continued to channel the minimalist style seen on S/S 11 runways.
“French Riviera Lolita” was the theme of Jill Stuart’s fun and vibrant resort collection, where some endearingly feminine denim silhouettes could be found among the bright, colorful prints. Asian reference came across in the collection via loose kimono-style wraps and tunics – reinterpreted in denim constructions, with self-tie sashes to complete the look. Other key pieces included denim-like linen separates and sculptured playsuits in cool and clinical indigos.
