ART SCHOOL CADETS
New York: Where else would two designers with a penchant for couture and collage find inspiration but in the art of the Memphis Group? Mixing quirky kitsch with serious technique, the duo behind Creatures of the Wind fashioned a collection rich in texture and thought for Fall. The Memphis sensibility was not only communicated in the nostalgic “broken geometry” patterns that appeared in print form and craftier dimensions but in the pastiche of materials and influences – activewear, collegiate and military, to name a few. The more casual and masculine moments, in particular, served to redirect the designers’ traditionalist approach into something seductively sleek and contemporary for the season.Nivara Xaykao
