Artist and programmer Lauren McCarthy might have just designed what is possibly the creepiest social network ever – Follower. Once signed up, the service promises to pair you with a “no-hassle, unseen companion, someone that watches, someone that sees you, someone who cares”. Lauren also doubles up as the “follower” too – she knows how and where to follow you, by accessing your iPhone’s location data. So what is the point of this? Well, perhaps those of us that crave social media followers online (on platforms like Twitter and Instagram) well, maybe that’s not quite satisfying enough – with the animosity of it all. Some people may want to take it one step further and actually share their day physically, with a real life “follower”, but without having to go through the work of establishing an actual relationship. The confusing world of social, huh?!

We’re loving this Kenyan fashion duo’s website 2manysiblings, curated by siblings Velma Rossa & Papa Petit. They create beautiful contemporary African narratives through their showcase of personal style, which they upload regularly on their Tumblr and Instagram accounts. We love their aesthetic and watching how their style is evolving over time, with a small fashion line in the pipeline.

Introducing Hiphoper, which is all about, you guessed it…Hip-Hop and street culture. However, with a bit of a twist this online magazine and e-tailer is created in South Korea’s capital of cool Seoul, the emerging mecca for all things youth and lifestyle trend related. HipHoper is your one stop shop for all devotees of hip-hop music and culture.

 

V I S I T : Damien Hirst’s latest restaurant

Pharmacy 2 is Damien Hirst’s new restaurant in collaboration with Mark Hix. It’s a gallery-meets-restaurant, open to exhibition visitors during the day, and diners in the evening. Meal-wise you can expect classic British and European dishes, reflecting both Hix and Hirst’s shared passion for fresh, quality food.

 

C H E C K   O U T : Powder

Based on the premise of “Sharing the love” Powder’s aim is to offer everyone, everywhere “insider, one-to-one beauty advice” and the result is this new source for all beauty-related intel delivered by crack team of industry insiders. When joining the Powder network, you are asked a few questions about biggest beauty bugbears and grooming routines resulting in matching you with a truly tailored list of products. Powder’s recommendations are created by a crafty Algorithm which combs through each and every product, from the new names on the scene to big beauty icons and brands to watch before editing them down to the best of the best.
