Float away to the magical world of Courrèges…
Fashion line Courrèges is re-launching this fall, with new owners Jacques Bungert and Frederic Torloting launching a redesigned website with e-commerce by late November. André Courrèges, patron saint of futuristic fashion [and, in many ways, the S/S 2012 runwway season], originally launched his line with the ‘Space Age’ collection in the early 60s, ushering in the miniskirt era and the use of novelty materials like PVC. Heavily influenced by the Modernist movement in design and architecture, Courrèges originally studied to be a civil engineer before working in fashion in Paris at Jeanne Lafaurie and later Balenciaga for several years. To commemorate the house’s 50th anniversary, Colette reissued a limited edition white version of Courrèges’ signature vinyl jacket, in conjunction with Evian.
The next question is, which designer will win this covetable gig?
