Milan: After exploring the dark underbelly of rock and roll style for several seasons, designer Ennio Capasa left it all behind for a summer full of urbane layers and techno tailoring. The color range consisted of monochromatic all-beige or all-grey looks, occasionally popped by a black suit and black shoes, pointing towards a cleansing of the palette for the designer. The slick look was emphasized with laser-cut leather shirt-jackets, cropped chinos and cotton poplin suitings. Suits composed of a slim, cropped jacket and subtly roomy pants came across as trend-right and contemporary, along with underpinnings that went the way of sheer tees instead of a polished dress shirt. Even if Costume National’s man has grown up, there’s no reason he can’t maintain his edge with unexpected design details and sophisticated neutrals.
