Since early 2010, leopard and cheetah prints continue its momentum (Active- Sneaker Capsule 2010) — spotted on street fashionistos and edgy urbanites across global fashion cities like Paris, Tokyo, London and New York. Designer labels and major athletic brands from Christian Louboutin to Nike have picked up on this trend and have since incorporated cool materials and pattern interest into recent collections. For F/W 11, Marc Jacobs presented color-blocked sporty creeper styles pared down with wearable casual looks. Japanese-brand BAL collaborates with Italian footwear brand Diemmme Roccia, bringing a fresh take to the classic hiker in cheetah printed hair calf for F/W 11. Check out Stylesight’s recent reports highlighting this trend: Fashion Week Streets – Footwear, Runway Classifications – Footwear, Retail Comp, Pitti Uomo – Accessories Wrap. With the S/S 12 shows beginning next month, expect animal prints to move forward for footwear.
