Stylesight got courtside with Converse last night to check out the Holiday 2011 performance basketball collection, catching designer and athlete perspectives on the DEFCON and Pro Leather 2K11 shoes.
Hosted by sneaker connoisseur Bobbito Garcia, Converse players Chris Andersen (Denver Nuggets), Kyle Korver (Chicago Bulls), and Lou Williams (Philadelphia 76ers) shared sentiments on representing the evolving brand. Andersen voiced his appreciation for the protection and durability the 2K11 offers, and all athletes agreed that the brand’s performance aspect has improved through the new collection’s focus on technical advancement.
Known for the creation of the original basketball shoe, Converse sticks to their simple, iconic aesthetic and focuses on the lightweight, breathable upper. Designed to maximize ankle support, both models use ConTain Fit technology to lockdown the foot during quick plays.
The Converse DEFCON, offered in 12 colorways, is built to transition quickly from offense to defense with minimal cushioning and lightweight design.
The Converse Pro Leather 2K11 keeps the simplicity of the original Pro Leather, designed by Dr. J in 1976, with a technical upgrade using a lightweight mesh upper and the Converse Balls Technology cushioning system.
Stylesight will continue to follow the Converse as its focus on performance technology continues to advance. –Calvy Click
