Consumer: The Young British Foodies

We’ve been tracking all things gastronomy for a while (pop-ups, experimental supper clubs and low budget food/art projects), and now a group of culinary masters at the forefront of creative London have conceived the YBF’s: an award that celebrates young, creative culinary talent and recognizes those championing age-old traditions as an art form.

The Young British Foodies, “the food and drink world’s answer to the Turner Prize“, has been conceived by a small group of bakers, mixologists, experimental artists and meat maestros; including Lily Vanilli, Tony C of 69 Colebrook Row and Bompass & Parr.

In a quest to  search for the “next generation of gastropreneurs”, the auditioning process will include two rounds; an open submission, and a showcase in front of a panel of YBF judges, with an exhibition to accompany the awards night.  Profits from the annual event will go towards a food related charity.
