The Andaz Hotel at Liverpool Street this year commissioned artist Eyal Burstein to create an advent calendar installation for the Andaz’s lounge area, inspired by the festive season.
Burnstein, founder of Berlin-based design practice Beta Tank, collected teasets and trinkets from the local area of Spitalfields and Brick Lane to create a large octagonal table with food paraphernalia molded into it. Everyday a different dessert, created by the hotels pastry chef, was revealed to guests, counting down the days of December.
“We wanted to create a welcoming area in our Andaz Lounge for guests as well as the local community to gather and share the festive spirit,” says Arnaud de Saint Exupéry, Andaz Liverpool Street General Manager.
We recently reported on the Long Table in Dalston, a nighttime food market and communal space for visitors to socialize in. We hope to see more food related projects in 2012 that celebrate conviviality and the local community. Merry Christmas! – Samantha Fox
