Another successful turn-around for the second annual Complex Con which took place November 4-5, 2017 at the Long Beach Convention Center. Musical performances by N.E.R.D, Gucci Mane, M.I.A, Young Thug among many others and special appearances by Virgil Abloh, Kobe Bryant, Kendrick Lamar just to name a few drew crowds in hundreds to the two-day extravaganza. Music, art installations, exclusive product launches and collaborations and the most stylish attendees are just a few of things we covered at the event. Check out some of our favourite street style looks below.
NORMCORE NOSTALGIA- Nostalgic looks are prominent at Complex Con. Looks reference the 1980s, as attendees pair worn-in denim pieces with equally battered, thrifted-looking jackets and T-shirts. Logo-printed pullover sweaters, dad caps and favourite sneakers lend a sportcore appeal. The look is updated when teamed with current trending accessories such as the Off-White utility belt, Gucci bags and Balenciaga kicks.
DOUBLE DENIM- Head-to-toe denim looks thrive among men and women. Pairings of denim trucker jackets with worn-in and damaged five-pocket jeans are styled in many ways, such as grungy, sporty and feminine. Jaden Smith previews the latest pieces from MSFTS Rep’s collection with screen- printed logos and fabric-blocking details. Pale to medium stonewashes are most relevant for this look.
BACK DETAILS- The DIY aesthetic reigns supreme. Attendees put their individual twist on trucker jackets with stunning, personal art, doodles, sewn-on large- scale patches and paintings of favourite R&B singers and rappers on the back. The jacket serves as a canvas in pale to medium stonewashes and colours.
