Vintage Western Collar Tips

Perhaps it’s a side effect of the casual button-up trend, or an evolution of the fascination with vintage Western and Navajo looks, but the impact of the collar as an accessory and collar decoration has been on our radar for a while now.
Eleven Objects’ Fall 11 collection of embellished collars caused a whole lot of excitement with the press and bloggers alike. Designers behind the collection, Linh Thi Do and Christine Rhee, who both previously worked for Doo.ri, explained the conception of the collars after they
“simultaneously decided that their wardrobes would vastly be improved by a different kind of accessory”

Adding a formal finish to garments in the form of a collar is a unique take on accessorizing, and the leather example from AKIRA explores the using of unusual and contrasting materials.
As the collar necklace also makes a big return for Fall, close-fit button up styling works as a contemporary application of this conservative jewelry item.

Alongside the trend for full collars, decorative collar tips are another popular accessory departure.
Minimal, almost industrial versions spotted on the asos website in smooth metals feel very timely. With a nod to casual denim look and authentic vintage Cowboy styling, embellished, cabochon and enamel decorated collar tips have also been noticed on the streets.
Already collar tip afficionados, we are excited to see how this subtle new accessory trend will develop.
