Sister design duo Kate and Laura Mulleavy, the ladies behind the label Rodarte, are no strangers to design collaborations. Last year they teamed up with high street retailer &OtherStories for a capsule collection and before that they worked with Target in 2009 on a more affordable line.
The Rodarte brand aesthetic has been described as very LA, and very ethereal, it is often a favourite with young LA actress. Now the designers have teamed up with Coach for the latest collab, which drops on April 14th.
This is a smart move for Rodarte as Coach is a leading player in the luxury market at the moment and according to Coach’s latest financial results released earlier this year, the US luxury accessories company is a hit within the North America market. North American Coach brand sales increased 2% to $744m, led by a 5% increase in direct sales and 4% growth in same-store sales. Coach’s sales of handbags priced above $400 rose to 50% of its retail store sales, up from 30% a year ago. Coach was helped by a more premium handbag offer, such as its 1941 collection. Last month the brand also hired singer and actress Selena Gomez to be the new face of the brand to appeal to younger shoppers.
In keeping with the accessories success, the Coach and Rodarte collab is set to include bags as well as apparel.

Some first looks of the boxy cross body bags have been released on social media, and there is a first look at the ready to wear looks in the April issue of American Vogue, styled on actress of the moment Sasha Lane. Price points are set to range from $295 up to $1,900.
