Last week, core messenger bag brand Chrome held a party to celebrate the opening of their new SoHo store. Stylesight was on hand to check out the new space, the new gear and the crowd.
Chrome’s new space had an industrial feel, with high ceilings, revolving bag rack on the ceiling, and shoes stored right out on the selling floor. The walls held Chrome product and photographs by David “Shadi” Perez, showing Chrome “Familia” members like skate legend John Cardiel, who also happened to be the party’s selector (DJ), dropping conscious raga all night long. There was also free beer, food from the meatball shop, and surprisingly, more skaters than bike messengers, perhaps marking a shift in Chrome’s targeted market.
