Tis the season of goodwill, and with that in mind, a number of high-profile creative folk have come together to raise money for less-fortunate children this Christmas, by custom-designing a festive tree decoration for auction on Ebay.

Proceeds from the auction will be donated entirely to London-based charity, Kids Company, which provides practical and emotional support to children living in cities across the UK.

Well-known celebrities and creative-types involved in the project include revered photographer and founder of Dazed & Confused magazine, Rankin, architect and future thinker Zaha Hadid, makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury, and designer Matthew Williamson, to name but a handful. The tree ornaments – each emulating the creative vision and personalities of their respective makers – are currently on display in the Aqua Shard restaurant at the top of London’s famous landmark spot, The Shard.

Designs include a futuristic green offering from Hadid, which is a “contemporary representation of a traditional decorative object,” she explains to Dezeen, while photographer Rankin has adorned his spherical hanging in miniature, metal spikes, giving the decoration a bit of a punk edge.
