To celebrate his 20 years in the business, star Parisian cobbler Christian Louboutin has recently unveiled his latest anniversary project: a collaboration with the Le Crazy Horse cabaret. He is the first guest creator in the history of the legendary Parisian cabaret club, and has developed four new sequences for the venue, all choreographed around the “language of legs,” as he puts it. Entitled Feu (or Flame in English), the show was derived from myriad inspirations, including hip hop music, art masterpieces and more, all of which “constitute a personal look at femininity in all its forms,” said the designer. Louboutin also teamed up with a talented group of friends such as Patricia Folly (choreographer and dancer at the Crazy Horse) and a diverse team of well-known artists – including David Lynch and Swizz Beatz, who both composed original music; Gilles Papain, who served as video designer; and Youssef Nabil, who created the poster for the show.
“I am interested in all things that celebrate and enhance the female form,” Louboutin said. “Because of what I do, for these numbers I have focused on the lower half of the body, rather than the top. The language of legs can express any and every feeling, and without giving too much away, the body becomes the Flame.”
