New York: Promising newcomer Christian Cota began thinking about the outdoors and performance clothing while designing his current collection, which led him to thinking of mountaineers, rock climbers and civilizations in high altitudes – Tibetans, Andeans and Himalayans. Snow leopard motifs, draping inspired by Tibetan robes and utilitarian details were the result of his outdoorsy inspirations, and Cota’s new foray with fur worked perfectly with the theme. A mix of basics – wide-leg trousers, wrap dresses – and more directional items like hand-painted blazers and two-toned pants – showcased the young designer’s range and proved he has a bright future ahead.
