NEW YORK…Designer Chris Benz has become a fixture on the downtown scene in the past few years, enjoying many pieces of positive press and all the right celebrity endorsements. Colorful and feminine have been keywords of his work thus far and S/S 09 fits right in, with only a few missteps. Wide leg pants, oversize shorts and elongated tail jackets looked fresh, while ripped jeans and sheer tops with ruffles at the waist didn’t quite work. Avoiding saccharine overload, the easter egg palette worked best when channeled through boyish silhouettes, rather than dresses and frills.
