Choose Your Own Adventure

I love pop music – but what I really love are music groups/artists that have the total package going on. For me, “total package” usually means having an attractive and cool female singer, great fashion sense, and really cool packaging and graphics and images for your products. (A product can be anything from a music video, to CD cover art, to a band T-shirt, to a magazine article about your group.) Sorry, but four dudes standing on stage with guitars, T-shirts, and jeans usually doesn’t do it for me. The leaders in total package presentation would be artists like Kylie, Madonna, and Daft Punk – plus loads of indie groups/artists like CSS, Yelle, New Young Pony Club, Santogold, The Kills…the list goes on. Oh, and to have the total package you should probably also have some amazing tunes – but that’s not necessarily first on my list.
Speaking of groups with attractive/cool female singers who have the total package – check out Heartsrevolution. Heartsrevolution is the cute couple Lo and Ben from the Heartschallenger ice cream truck – which you and your squad have probably come across if you’re going to the right sort of parties in L.A. or New York. So far they’ve only released 2 limited-edition vinyl singles – both of which are sold-out, both featuring a B-side track called “Prism Effect” featuring Cory Kennedy(!) on vocals. None of these tracks are available in the iTunes store and they are hard to find even on illegal download sites – their scarcity likely being down to the fact that ripping vinyl into the computer is sort of a drag. The Heartsrevolution kids are releasing one of their tracks – “C.Y.O.A.!” – with wider distribution on March 11th. It’s still going to be vinyl only (with cool packaging/artwork I’m sure) but at least now you should be able to buy a copy before it sells out. Even better – today their label slid me a link to a free legit download of a “C.Y.O.A.!” remix that’s taken from the upcoming release. This mix is pretty close to the album version but I think it’s even better. If you want to download it yourself, you should click here…xoxo Eddie

  • I love pop music to 🙂 I think today it would probably have to by Kylie that still has the whole package

  • Kylie totally has the whole package – she even had the cool kids from the edgy London club night Boombox come and dance on her UK television special, “The Kylie Show.” She’s always on top of the latest in music and fashion! Her new album is great – my favorite tracks on it are “Wow”, “The One”, “Like A Drug”, and “2 Hearts”.

  • Yeah I’ve been listening to them, they’re good. 😉
Blonde Redhead has been crowding my ipod too.

  • yeaah i love css and nypc
    really cool groups =)

  • If you like CSS and NYPC, you should check out teenagersintokyo and Yelle. Look for their videos on Youtube.
